Rongai Gate to Simba Camp

Acclimatization Day at Mawenzi Tarn

Summit Day: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut

To Uhuru (5,895m), to Horombo (3,720m). Distance: 21km, Time: 12-15 hours, Gain/Loss: +1,192m/-2,175m. Your summit push typically begins around midnight. Your guide will keep a slow, steady pace and monitor your condition closely. After the summit (weather permitting near sunrise), you descend carefully back to camp for a short rest, then continue down to a lower camp to recover. Overnight at Horombo Hut.
