Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Drive to Machame Gate (1,800m). Trek rainforest to Machame Camp (3,000m). Distance: 11km, Time: 5-7 hours, Gain: 1,200m. After registration, you start trekking with a comfortable “pole pole” pace. Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Steep moorland to Shira Camp (3,840m). First Kibo views. Distance: 5km, Time: 4-6 hours, Gain: 840m. Your guide sets a steady “pole pole” rhythm with rest breaks, keeping the day comfortable while supporting acclimatization. Overnight at Shira Camp. Shira Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower
Climb to Lava Tower (4,630m) for acclimatization, descend to Barranco (3,950m). "Climb high, sleep low". Distance: 10km, Time: 6-8 hours, Gain/Loss: +790m/-680m. This is a classic “climb high, sleep low” day — you gain altitude to stimulate acclimatization, then descend to a lower camp for better recovery. Overnight at Barranco Camp. Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp
Scramble Barranco Wall, cross valleys to Barafu (4,600m). Rest for summit. Distance: 9km, Time: 7-9 hours, Gain: 650m. Your guide sets a steady “pole pole” rhythm with rest breaks, keeping the day comfortable while supporting acclimatization. Overnight at Barafu Camp. Summit Day: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
Midnight ascent to Stella Point (5,756m), then Uhuru (5,895m). Descend to Mweka (3,100m). Distance: 17km, Time: 11-15 hours, Gain/Loss: +1,295m/-2,795m. Your summit push typically begins around midnight. Your guide will keep a slow, steady pace and monitor your condition closely. After the summit (weather permitting near sunrise), you descend carefully back to camp for a short rest, then continue down to a lower camp to recover. Overnight at Mweka Camp.
